About Me

My name is Rachel and I am the Founder and Director of Active Phonics. I studied Educational Studies at York University. From there, I went on to complete my Early Years PGCE at Leeds Metropolitan University in 2006. Since then, I have been a teacher in the infant year groups and took on the roles of Literacy Coordinator and Key Stage One Leader. After having my two children, I returned to work part time whilst setting up and developing 'Active Phonics.'

I have been passionate about Phonics since I began my teaching career. However, once my own child reached 3, I began to think more about the provision out there for pre-school children. From that point, 'Active Phonics' was born!
